St. Augustine, Fla. — Alligators, parrots and turtles - this Super Bowl Sunday started off with a special trip on the wild side.
In efforts to be there for families and cancer patients, the Tom Coughlin Jay Fund welcomed 89 families to the Augustine Alligator Farm Zoological Park.
“Leave some of their worries and troubles behind for a day,” Keli Coughlin, CEO of the Tom Coughlin Jay Fund Foundation said. “Make them feel special and enjoy themselves and spend important family time together.”
Many of the families involved with the Tom Coughlin Jay Fund Foundation were introduced to over 300 alligators and in between 600-700 crocodilians for the first time ever. They say seeing them in person for the first time was a sight to see.
“There’s this one that’s like, gigantic!” Seth Rowe said. “It’s fun because you get to see all different types of alligators.”
There are over 300 Jacksonville children in active cancer treatment.
Seth Row was diagnosed with brain cancer in 2019.
“I to go through proton therapy,” Rowe said. “I still do MRI’s every 6 months.”
As these opportunities provide a sense of relief and help the children forget about what they’re going through, Seth’s mother, Stacey Rowe says it’s a community of support.
“The commorodity being able to be with families with similar circumstances is helpful to know you’re not alone,” Rowe said.
