Remembering Tristyn Bailey: Family releases statement ahead of Fucci sentencing

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A high profile murder case is set to come to a close this week, as Aiden Fucci will be sentenced for the murder of 13-year-old Tristyn Bailey.

On Saturday night, Bailey’s family released a statement pleading for her memory to live on even though the trial will soon reach its conclusion.

In the statement, Bailey’s family left notes about the little girl’s legacy while citing her strong bond with her siblings, as well as the friendly voice she provided to friends in need. The family also expressed the incoming pain expected with further media coverage of the trial during Fucci’s sentencing on Tuesday.

Action News Jax spoke to law and safety expert Dale Carson on Sunday night, who outlined the difficult circumstances faced by families of the victim in a high profile criminal case such as this one.

“Everything that reminds you of a sudden death and killing, particularly one that is as horrific as this killing was, would tend to upset you,” said Carson.

However, justice is soon on the horizon for Bailey, as Fucci will be charged as an adult when sentenced this upcoming week.

While the death penalty is still off the table due to Fucci’s age, he can potentially face life in prison. Carson said the prosecution is likely to be aggressive in a case like this when it comes to sentencing.

“The state will likely present, as I mentioned, evidence in support of a longer term in custody, a longer conviction, stronger conviction,” said Carson.

While the case draws near a close, Bailey’s family simply hopes her legacy lives on.
