Tuba Christmas returns with Over 200 tuba players expected

JACKSONVILLE, Fla — Deck The Chairs is welcoming Tuba Christmas back for a fifth season of free holiday programming at the Seawalk Pavilion.

This free concert will be this Saturday, December 10, from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at Seawalk Pavilion in Downtown Jacksonville Beach

The 2022 season marks the 48th anniversary for TUBA CHRISTMAS concerts presented throughout the world. The first TUBA CHRISTMAS was conducted by Paul Lavalle in New York City’s Rockefeller Plaza Ice Rink on Sunday, December 22, 1974.

Rehearsal in the park kicks off at 10:00 a.m. followed by a noon time lunch break before performance gets underway.

Deck The Chairs (DTC) promotes the arts and fosters community pride and involvement through a creative display of public art, featuring lighted iconic lifeguard chairs.

Free and open to the public, the light displays and park activities have become a popular tradition in north Florida and the Southeast. DTC has received national recognition from People Magazine, Fox News, USA Today, INSIDER, and Coastal Living. DTC has also received multiple awards from The Florida Festivals & Events Association.
