JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Investigators say Clay County Deputy Glenn Ward drove his patrol vehicle into his own home Friday, but didn’t give a reason why.
Department officials said Ward resigned from the Sheriff’s Office Tuesday.
Action News Jax reporter Cole Heath went to the house Wednesday to get a comment from Ward and noticed someone turning off the lights.
When Heath knocked on the door a man’s voice could be heard from inside.
“Get off my property,” a man said through the closed door.
Neighbors confirmed to Action News Jax that deputy Ward received a Medal of Merit in 2011.
A witness said they saw Ward's wife come out of the house with her two small kids moments after the crash. That witness also said they saw another man too.
The police report names nine-year deputy Jack Bledsoe as a witness at the scene.
The Sheriff's Office confirms Bledsoe also resigned this week.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office and state attorney’s office are both investigating the incident, both deputies and the cause of the crash.
Officials said no one was hurt in the crash.
