Two local restaurants anticipate big crowds for Super Bowl weekend

JACKSONVILLE, Fla — Super Bowl LVII is this Sunday as the Kansas City Chiefs, and the Philadelphia Eagles face off against each other.

Now, local restaurants including Philly’s Finest where Eagles fans will gather, and Island Wing Company where Chiefs fans will be, are preparing for the big game and big crowds.

Jeff Harris, owner of Philly’s finest cheesesteaks pizza, and wings is ready for Super Bowl LVII.

“We got one more weekend just to finish it off,” says Harris.

Harris, who is originally from Philadelphia, is a die-hard Eagles fan.

He along with his wife decided to move to Jax Beach years ago and open this restaurant.

Now, he says they are preparing for the big game and expecting big crowds.

“We have one of the largest Eagles fan clubs in Florida.  So, within four to five minutes, people started reserving tables and we were sold out,” says Harris.

Harris tells me because of this they made their watch party for the game a private event, but no worries customers can still order food from a great menu Philly’s Finest.

“Not only do we sell authentic cheesesteaks, but we have authentic pizza, our dough gets made in New York and sent down here. The water is better up there so it makes a really good flavor on the pizza,” says Harris.

But if you travel 30 minutes southwest from Philly’s Finest to Island Wing company in St. Johns County, managers there are expecting over a hundred Chiefs fans to pile into their restaurant on Sunday.

“This is the Chiefs watch party headquarters around town,” says Melina Hurley.

Hurley who is a manager and Faith Thomas who serves food says Chiefs fans in the area typically buy out the entire patio area of their restaurant and they are also sold out for Sunday’s game. They even tell me partying with Chief’s Kingdom is always fun.

“At the end of the night, they are the sweetest genuine people I’ve ever met,” says Thomas.

Hurley tells me like other restaurants they are prepared for big crowds.

“We have a lot of large tables, especially like this great fire pit area for large parties,” says Hurley.

Kickoff for Super Bowl LVII is at 6:30 on Sunday.
