Leasing brochures from Gator Investments show two stores coming soon.
Sadie Guinyard has shopped at the Gateway Town Center for decades.
“This was the only mall we had on the northside, so of course this is where everyone frequented and shopped when you wanted to really say shop,” Guinyard said.
She’s watched stores close their doors and new ones open.
“Now it’s not like it was,” Guinyard said.
Gator Investments is revitalizing the shopping center.
The center is located just east of Interstate 95 next to the Jacksonville Transportation Authority’s Public terminal at the intersection of West 44th Street and Norwood Avenue.
The center has major tenants such as Winn Dixie and Family Dollar and the newest additions to the building will include a Burlington and Five Below.
Sadie said these new additions are more affordable and much needed.

“The Burlington yes, much needed,” Guinyard said. “It’s just good to see that the gateway mall is being revived and I think it’s a good thing.”
