PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. — This St. Johns County city could change its name to Lucky Town after what happened here during the last week. Two Ponte Vedra Beach men hit big winning $1 million playing Florida Lottery’s 500X THE CASH Scratch-Off game.

Florida Lottery announced the most recent winner Tuesday. He’s 67-year-old Natwar Patel who purchased his $50 scratch-off ticket from Murphy USA, 1570 Branan Field Road, Middleburg. Patel chose to receive his winnings as a one-time, lump-sum payment of $640,000, lottery officials said.

On Dec. 10, lottery officials announced that Walter Sheard, also of Ponte Vedra Beach, purchased a winning $1 million 500X THE CASH Scratch-Off from Publix, 670 Marsh Landing Parkway, Jacksonville Beach. He too opted for the $640,000 lump-sum payment, lottery officials said.
