Two shot during fight at Jacksonville lounge, one of the victims was a bystander

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Two men were hospitalized after gunfire broke out in a Jacksonville lounge early Thursday following a fight. Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office was called to Elevation Lounge, 5611 Norwood Ave., at about 2 a.m. in response to two people shot.

Officers arrived to find two men shot, a man in his early 20s was shot in his abdomen, back, and foot and a man in his early 30 was shot in his foot and forearm, Jacksonville police said. The men were taken to the hospital where the man in his 20s is listed in critical condition and the man in his 30 is in stable condition, police said at a news conference Thursday morning outside of the club.

Police are interviewing witnesses and watching surveillance video to determine what occurred. “The initial investigation revealed that there was a fight inside of the Elevation Lounge,” JSO Sgt. Richardson said at the news conference. “During that fight an unknown individual fired multiple shots in the direction of the victims.”

Richardson said the 20 year old victim was the primary target who was involved in the fight with the shooter. “The other one happened to be in the area during the shots,” Richardson said.
