The Nassau County Sheriff’s Office said a student at West Nassau High School was arrested Friday for making a threat that was sent out several students.
The sophomore student took a picture with a bandana covering his face and holding a gun and sent the picture via text to students Thursday, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies said the picture had the phrase “Don’t come to school tomorrow,” across the photo.
Deputies went to the student’s house to investigate and intercepted the student prior to the student getting on the school bus, the Sheriff’s Office said.
The sheriff’s office said a revolver and bandana matching the items in the picture were found in the student's home.
Deputies said the 15-year-old told them he was only joking and had no intent of harming anyone.
Deputies arrested the student and he is facing charges of written threats to kill, which is a felony.
“It floored me, it floored me, it scared me,” said Rusty Oquinn who was terrified when he saw a post on social media of a student threatening a school shooing where his grandson goes to school.
Oquinn said he immediately went to West Nassau High School to pick up his grandson, an hour earlier.
“I wish I would’ve been here right when it happened, but I didn’t see it until later on Facebook,” he said.
The Sheriff’s Office sent this statement Friday:
“Kids need to realize doing something like this isn't funny and you will get arrested if any threats are made. Parents and guardians need to talk to their kids about these situations, because it is no joke and their child will be placed in handcuffs if caught. Anything that is going to be posted or reposted via social media is going to be taken very seriously by law enforcement and our schools.”
