ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. — Two sisters are in critical condition after being involved in a serious car crash in St. Augustine.

The Florida Highway Patrol said an 18-year-old died in the crash. Griffin Moody recently graduated from Nease High School, school officials said.

Everyone involved in the crash on SR 16 at Murabella Parkway was under the age of 21.

FHP said Meghan Theobald, 18, was driving west on SR 16 with three friends in her car when she turned in front of an oncoming vehicle at the intersection of Murabella Parkway.

Witness, Lisa Phillips, said she sat and prayed with Theobald as other witnesses helped her friends who were hurt in the accident.

"I was able to pray for her and the other kids in the car … and she was very shaken up," Phillips said. “I was there to make sure that she didn’t see what they were doing because for anybody to see that kind of tragedy was horrific. It was just really bad.”

Theobald was released from the hospital on Monday afternoon.

The driver and passenger in the other vehicle were taken to Flagler Hospital, and are also listed in serious condition.

“So many families have been impacted last night and shifted,” Phillips said. “I can’t even imagine the pain that the parents are going through to lose their son at such a young age, I just pray that forgiveness can be found all around.”

The crash is still under investigation.
