Shore Drive boat ramp was a place full of happy memories, but now, for one family in St. Augustine, it’s a devastating reminder of how they lost their son.
“I can’t think of anything worse. In fact, my daughter is 16 and that will be the end of my world you know, to lose her,” Depiazza said.
He said last Thursday he was walking his dog along the boat ramp when he saw 9-year-old Logan Stroud get hit by a car. Police documents show the driver was 15-years-old and accidentally hit Logan as he was backing into the boat ramp. Logan was hit and later died from his injuries.

“He wasn’t being reckless or anything; he was going quite slow, actually, but it was just freak timing. The kid popped out at the same time as he came by,” Depiazza said.
Depiazza said although he’s not related to the family, he’s grieving with them.
“We all cried and, you know, I didn’t choose to be there. I think it helps when you go through something like this to have more people around,” Depiazza said.
He's started a GoFundMe to help raise money for the family.
