JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A Jacksonville woman is dead after she was hit by a pickup truck as she crossed Beach Boulevard on New Years Eve. The 68-year-old pedestrian was crossing the roadway at St. Johns Bluff Road at about 10 p.m. when she was struck by the vehicle, a Florida Highway Patrol news release states.

The truck, driven by a 38-year-old Jacksonville man, was traveling westbound on Beach Boulevard when the woman entered the truck’s path from the northbound lanes, the news release states. She was taken to the hospital where she was pronounced dead. The victim’s name was not released.
