Jacksonville, Fla. — A young male, between the ages of 16 and 20, was found dead Wednesday evening at a vacant home located on the 2200 block of Edgewood Avenue West.
The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office received several calls of gunfire in that area around 5:30 p.m, with the victim later being pronounced dead on the scene.

“We gotta stop it. It has to be stopped. Because it’s out of control,” neighbor Irish Isaiah Parker told Action news Jax Thursday morning. “Before he even get to see his life and live his life, it’s cut short at its peak.”
Detectives are speaking to witnesses, but as of right now, they do not know what led to the shooting or the relationships of those involved.

It’s another violent death that Westside resident Allen Lovett said is the latest tragic crime committed in the Westside community.
“My street personally was a pretty peaceful one growing up, but in the past couple years there’s been some chop shops and a couple shootings on my street,” Lovett said.

JSO is asking any witnesses to come forward, with neighbors calling for an end to the loss of young life on Jacksonville’s Westside.
“We need to focus a little more on raising our children a little more tight,” Parker said.
“Everyone out here is teaching going down the wrong path, there needs to be a shift in what we’re teaching our youth,” Lovett added.
