JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — UPDATE 10:38 p.m.: Alayjah Bridges has been found safe, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

Original story: The Jacksonville Sherrif’s Office is looking for a missing 8-year-old girl last seen on Friday, January 31.

According to JSO, Alayjah Bridges was last seen walking to the Dallas James Graham Library located at 2304 Myrtle Avenue North around 4 p.m. on Friday.

Bridges was last seen wearing a black polo-style shirt with “S.P. Livingston Elementary School” written on it in white letters, and black pants. She was also carrying a black, glitter backpack. She is 4 feet, 5 inches tall and weighs 70 pounds. She has brown eyes and black hair with braids worn in a ponytail.

Patrol Officers responded to 1800 9th St. West in reference to the child on Saturday.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement sent out a Missing Child Alert at 9:27 p.m. To issue a Missing Child Alert four critera must be met:

  • The child must be under 18 years of age.
  • The law enforcement agency's preliminary investigation must conclude that the child's life is in danger.
  • Descriptive information and a photograph of the child must be available.
  • The agency of jurisdiction must approve the issuance of the Missing Child Alert.

Efforts to find the child have been unsuccessful according to JSO.
