Jacksonville, Fla. — Mayor Lenny Curry said in a virtual news conference he agrees with President Trump’s decision to scrap the Republican National Convention in Jacksonville.
“Had the president not made that decision, I would have made a decision 7- 12 days out,” Curry said.
President Donald Trump pulled the plug on the RNC in Jacksonville when coronavirus cases in the state began to rise.
“Given the current trends, I think it was the right decision,” Curry said.
The Mayor said today at this point he does not know if Jacksonville will have any part of the RNC.

Curry stressed no City or taxpayer dollars were used in the planning process.
Action News Jax learned the city never received any federal money from the department of justice to host the event.
