A 22-year-old man attempted to hide 97 heroin pills in his buttocks when Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office deputies conducted a traffic stop last month, according to an arrest report.
Charlymagne Cherry and Kenneth Chastine, 29, face charges of trafficking heroin and drug possession. Chastine was released from the Palm Beach County Jail after posting $25,000 bail. Cherry remains in jail with his bail set at $60,000.
On Dec. 28, deputies watched two vehicles on the 2400 block of North Dixie Highway, just north of 10th Avenue North, parked side-by-side and conduct what appeared to be a drug deal. One car drove off.
The deputies then approached the vehicle that remained and watched Chastine lift his buttocks off his seat and hand an item to Cherry. Once Cherry placed the then-unknown item in his pants, he sat back down as well, according to the report.
Deputies said they smelled burned marijuana coming from the vehicle once the men were out of the car and on the ground.
“I located a plastic bag that contained 97 capsules of heroin clenched between Cherry’s buttocks,” a deputy wrote in the report. The heroin weighed 15 grams, the report said.
Inside the vehicle, investigators also found cocaine residue, a plastic bag of marijuana and $2,360 in cash, ranging from $100 bills to $2 bills, according to the report.
