None — Tom has been forecasting Florida weather since 2002. But his love of weather can be traced back to childhood. Tom says "weather chose me," a proclamation he admits sounds corny but promises is true.
Tom took his passion from elementary school all the way to Rutgers University and earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Earth and Atmospheric Sciences, with the focus on Meteorology. After graduation, he went straight to Mississippi State University, where the Broadcast Meteorology Program was born. The on-campus Geosciences program more than complimented his undergraduate work. MSU gave him on-air experience, his favorite meteorology professor, a Teaching Assistant position, and a Master of Science degree.
Tom followed his formal education with successful weather anchor roles in television stations across the South and Southwest before arriving in Florida. Highlights include hurricane coverage at the Fox Affiliate in Miami during the busiest seasons on record. Fox News Channel tapped into Tom's coverage of Hurricane Ivan as the massive storm moved through the Florida Straits. Tom recalls, "I got calls from friends in California and Arizona who saw me cover that storm. It was great national exposure." Tom was a Chief Meteorologist again in the Fort Myers-Naples market starting in 2006. He received Best Weathercast awards in 2007 and 2008 from the Florida Associated Press.
