Suspected Daytona Beach serial killer in custody, sheriff says

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — After more than a decade, police in Daytona Beach, Florida said they finally have a suspect in custody connected with a serial killer case.

Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood confirmed a suspected serial killer is in custody.

The man allegedly killed four women in Daytona Beach between 2005 and 2007.

Chitwood was the police chief for the Daytona Beach Police Department at the time of the fourth murder.

Families of these four women have waited 12 to 14 years to hear more on this case.

The four women's bodies were each found a mile or two apart from each other in Daytona Beach and Holly Hill.

All had been shot in the head using the same type of gun, a .40 caliber Smith and Wesson.

All their bodies had been left in remote and wooded areas.

Daytona Beach police said to expect more information on the developments in a report Monday.
