MOBILE, Ala. — An Alabama woman is accused of abusing her 3-year-old son, who later died from his injuries, authorities said.
Tatyana Anika Edwards, 26, of Mobile, surrendered to authorities on Friday, WALA reported. She was charged with felony murder in connection with the death of her son, according to Mobile County Sheriff’s Office online booking records.
The boy had been admitted to an area hospital on Aug. 8 and went into full cardiac arrest, according to AL.com.
The child died on Wednesday, the website reported.

An autopsy showed the boy died from severe head trauma and other injuries, according to WKRG. Investigators said there were signs the child had been abused for some time, the television station reported.
Police gave that information to the Mobile County district attorney’s office, AL.com reported. Detectives later obtained a warrant for a felony murder charge against Edwards, according to the website.
Edwards was booked into the Mobile County Jail, according to online records.
