Atlanta-based rapper Trouble was fatally shot Sunday morning in an apartment complex southeast of Atlanta, authorities said. He was 34.
Trouble, whose real name was Mariel Semonte Orr, was under contract to Def Jam Recordings. The record label announced the rapper’s death in an Instagram post.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the children, loved ones, and fans of Trouble,” the record label posted on Instagram. “A true voice for his city and an inspiration to the community he proudly represented. RIP Scoob.”
Update 5:58 p.m. EDT June 5: According to the Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office, Orr was shot around 3:20 a.m. Sunday at the Lake St. James Apartment complex in Conyers, WSB-TV reported.
Deputies arriving at the scene discovered Orr on the ground. He was taken to an area hospital where he later died, according to the television station.
No arrests have been made, but investigators have obtained arrest warrants for Jamichael Jones, 33, charging him with murder, WSB reported.

No cause of death was given, WSB-TV reported.
Atlanta rappers such as Gucci Mane, T.I., Jeezy and 2 Chainz paid tribute to Orr on social media, along with producer Mike Will Made-It, who was executive producer on Trouble’s 2018 debut album “Edgewood,” Rolling Stone reported.
“Trouble’s personality lit up a room and his conversation left you more creative then when you walked in,” Mike Will Made-It wrote in his Instagram stories. “His accent, dialect, and charisma were of constant discussion when we spoke; usually chats full of laughter.”
“Edgewood” featured tracks with Drake (“Bring It Back”), The Weeknd (“Come Thru”), members of Migos (“Rider” with Quavo, “Kesha Dem” with Offset) and Boosie Badazz (“Ms. Cathy & Ms. Connie”), according to Rolling Stone.
The rapper’s second album, “Thug Luv,” was released in 2020, according to the magazine. It featured collaborative efforts from City Girls, Jeezy, Jacquees and 2 Chainz, Rolling Stone reported.
Orr came to prominence in 2011 with his debut mixtape, which featured the song “Bussin’” which has more than 2.7 million views on YouTube.
