With COVID-19 continuing to spread around the globe, some of the world’s most famous people have announced that they have tested positive for the virus.
Here are some of the actors, athletes, politicians and others who have tested positive for the new coronavirus.
Actors
Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson
Hanks and his wife issued a statement on March 11 saying they had contracted the disease while working on a film in Australia.
Idris Elba
Elba, who starred in “The Wire,” and “Avengers,” announced Monday he tested positive but has not felt ill. “Listen, I’m doing OK,” he said. “I didn’t have any symptoms.”
Rachel Matthews
Matthews, who voiced the character of Honeymaren in “Frozen II,” announced Monday on Instagram that she had been in quarantine for the past week after she tested positive for the virus.
“I’m feeling better,” she said in the post.
Kristofer Hivju
Hivju who starred in “Games of Thrones,” said in an Instagram post on Monday that he had tested positive for coronavirus. He said his symptoms are mild and that he is in isolation with his family. “We are in good health — I only have mild symptoms of a cold,” Hivju, 41, said.
Indira Varma
Another “Game of Thrones” star, Varma announced Wednesday on Instagram that she was sick with the virus.
"So sad our and so many other shows around the world have gone dark affected by the Covid-19 pandemic," she wrote. "We hope to be back soon and urge you all (and the govt) to support us when we do. I’m in bed with it and it’s not nice. Stay safe and healthy and be kind to your fellow people."
Olga Kurylenko
Kurylenko, who starred in “Quantum of Solace,” announced her diagnosis Sunday on Instagram. “Fever and fatigue are my main symptoms,” Kurylenko said in her post.
Athletes
Kevin Durant, Rudy Gobert, Donovan Mitchell, Christian Wood
At least seven players in the NBA have tested positive. Durant, Gobert, Mitchell and Wood have all gone public with their diagnosis. Three other players for the Brooklyn Nets, the team Durant plays for, have tested positive, but have not made a public announcement about their health.
“Everyone be careful, take care of yourself and quarantine,” Durant said after revealing his diagnosis on Tuesday. “We’re going to get through this.”
Gobert and Mitchell play for the Utah Jazz.
Gobert apologized for joking about the virus in a news conference then touching a row of reporters’ microphones and recording devices as he left the room where he was being interviewed. “I was careless and make no excuses,” he said in a post on Instagram.
Wood plays for the Detroit Pistons.
Callum Hudson-Odoi
Hudson-Odoi announced his diagnosis Friday on Instagram. The Chelsea Football Club player said, “I’m feeling good and hope to see you all soon.”
Daniele Rugani and Manolo Gabbiadini
Rugani, the Italian national soccer team star, announced on March 11 that he tested positive for new coronavirus. Rugani said he has no symptoms.
Gabbiadini, a striker for Sampdoria, announced on Thursday he had tested positive. “I’ve already received so very many messages. But I still want to reassure you that I'm fine, so don't worry,” Gabbiadini wrote on Twitter.
Mikel Arteta
The coach of the Arsenal Football Club announced his diagnosis on Thursday.
Fernando Gaviria and Dmitry Strakhov
Colombian cyclist Gaviria and Russian cyclist Strakhov have both announced they have been infected with the virus.
Public Figures
Mario Diaz-Balart
Diaz-Blart, R-Florida, is the first U.S. congressman to test positive for COVID-19.
Diaz-Balart entered self-quarantine in Washington because his wife Tia has a preexisting medical condition, his office said. He developed symptoms Saturday evening and tested positive for COVID-19 Wednesday.
“I want everyone to know that I am feeling much better,” Diaz-Balart said in a statement. “However, it is important that everyone take this extremely seriously and follow CDC guidelines in order to avoid getting sick and mitigate the spread of this virus. We must continue to work together to emerge stronger as a country during these trying times.”
Francis Suarez
Suarez, the mayor of Miami, announced that he had tested positive for the coronavirus. “I feel completely healthy and strong,” he said in a video message.
Sophie Grégoire Trudeau
Trudeau, the wife of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, tested positive for the virus. “She is feeling well, is taking all the recommended precautions and her symptoms remain mild,” the prime minister’s office said in a statement on Thursday
Musicians
Charlotte Lawrence
Singer-songwriter Lawrence, who is 19, announced on Instagram Tuesday that she tested positive for COVID-19. “I am going to be completely fine,” the “Sleep Talking” artist wrote. “But many who get it won’t be if too many people get sick too quickly. So this is not me asking for prayers, for love, for sweet messages. This is me pleading for you all to protect those less able to survive this virus. Think about your parents. Think about your grandparents,” she wrote. “Think about someone else getting your loved ones sick because they don’t listen, because they thought they knew better. Because they were selfish.”
Andrew Watt
Watt, a Grammy-award winning music producer who has worked with stars like Post Malone, has tested positive for COVID-19, he announced Tuesday.

Arielle Charnas
Charnas, the Something Navy lifestyle brand fashion influencer, announced her positive status on Instagram on March 18.
Kaylee Hartung
Hartung, an ABC News reporter, tested positive for the COVID-19 after traveling covering the outbreak of the disease in Seattle.
Ali Fedotowsky
The former “Bachelorette” star announced that she has tested positive and is in isolation at her home.
Heidi Klum and Tom Kaulitz
Klum and her husband Kaulitz, have been tested for coronavirus after feeling unwell last week. Klum announced her husband’s test came back negative and that she is still waiting for the results of her test.
