NEW YORK — Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla confirmed on Monday that he tested positive for COVID-19 and is experiencing very mild symptoms.
In a prepared statement, 60-year-old Bourla confirmed that he had begun a course of Paxlovid, the company’s oral COVID-19 antiviral treatment. He also noted that he is isolating and following all public health precautions.
“I am confident that I will have a speedy recovery,” Bourla stated.

.Paxlovid is an antiviral medication that is used to treat high-risk people, such as older patients, Reuters reported.
According to the news outlet, Bourla has received four doses of the COVID vaccine developed by Pfizer and its German partner BioNTech.
Bourla is the latest high-profile public figure to contract the virus, following the recent diagnoses of both U.S. President Joe Biden and his chief medical officer, Dr. Anthony Fauci, Reuters reported.
