ORLANDO, Fla. — Officials at a Central Florida amusement park are pausing a new interactive game that allowed riders to shoot laser blasters at targets.
The Wheel ride at ICON Park in Orlando has a premium game called Bullseye Blast, WFTV reported. For an extra $5.95, riders in the attraction’s capsules could shoot targets at nearby rooftops around the park, according to The Associated Press.
The attraction had set up 50 targets with varying degrees of difficulty, according to WFTV.

The park issued a statement on Saturday, saying the ride had been “well-received” by customers. However, officials noted that some customers questioned whether the game was appropriate in the wake of recent mass shootings in Highland Park, Illinois; Uvalde, Texas; and Buffalo, New York.
“Some non-guests and community members expressed that they considered the toy shooting device used to be insensitive,” the statement said. “The attractions industry has many similar games which use similar shooting devices, so that is what we were limited to when exploring the game. However, we believe that a device can and should be designed which does not offend anyone in the community.”
Park officials said they were working to redesign the current version of the game into something more agreeable to all patrons, WFTV reported.
ICON Park announced the Bullseye Blast in a news release on Thursday, according to the AP.
