ROCKMART, Ga. — A Georgia woman purported to be an FBI agent Thursday in a ruse to get free food from a Chick-fil-A restaurant, police said.
Rockmart police said Kimberly George Ragsdale, 47, told restaurant workers she was a federal agent and demanded free food, the Polk Standard Journal reported.
Ragsdale had attempted to get free food from the restaurant several other times last week, even threatening to arrest employees who did not comply, investigators said.
Ragsdale was arrested and charged with impersonating a public officer. As she was being taken into custody, Ragsdale started talking into her shirt pretending a radio was there, saying that she was being arrested and to send someone to the Rockmart police station, investigators said.
“We are thankful for the observant and professional staff at CFA who knew what to do and gathered the info needed for us to make our case and catch her in the act,” Rockmart Police Chief Randy Turner told the Polk Standard Journal. “We would like to inform our citizens to call 911 if someone is claiming to be an officer if they aren’t in a marked car, or in a proper uniform, or if they don’t have the proper credentials.”
Turner also indicated that legitimate officers would never demand free food.
“If it is given, we appreciate it. If it is discounted, we appreciate it. We will not ask for it or make threats and demand it,” he said.
