A retired Virginia man knows exactly want he wants to buy after winning $100,000 in a lottery game.
“I guess I can buy me some eggs now,” Jerry Camp joked in a statement to Virginia Lottery officials after winning a Cash 5 with EZ Match game.
Due to avian flu, the cost of eggs has risen nationwide. Prices in December were 60% higher than at the same time in 2021, according to NPR.
Camp, of Ashland, hit the winning numbers in the Jan. 8 drawing to win the top prize after buying two tickets at the New Exxon Mart in Glen Allen, lottery officials said on Friday.
Camp had two winning tickets. The first one netted him $2, and then the second lottery slip had the $100,000 grand prize. According to lottery officials, the EZ Match game features a rolling jackpot that starts at $100,000.
In addition to buying more eggs, Camp said he also plans to buy a new car with his winnings. The rest, most likely, will go into a savings account to provide him with a nice nest egg for his retirement years.
