OXFORD, Miss. — Officers at a Mississippi police station had a temporary scare on Tuesday after a citizen mistakenly brought a live grenade into the building.
The bomb squad responded to the Oxford Police Department, WAPT reported.
Investigators said a person brought what they believed to be an inert grenade into the police station, the television station reported.
Please avoid the area directly in front of OPD. We had somebody bring what they thought was an inert grenade. After contacting ATF, they determined that it is possibly live.

Officials with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives were called to the scene and determined the grenade was possibly live, according to WAPT.
Oxford police were assisted by the bomb squad of the Tupelo Police Department, the television station reported. Streets near the police station were blocked off as a precaution but were later reopened.
According to the Oxford Police Department, the situation was resolved several hours later and an all-clear order was given.
