MONROE, La. — A Louisiana man is accused of running over his sister’s head while driving a vehicle, causing the woman’s death, authorities said.
Eric Dewayne Long, 43, of Monroe, was arrested Saturday and charged with resisting a police officer with force and violence, unauthorized use of a movable vehicle, simple battery and aggravated battery, according to Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office online booking records. A fifth charge, vehicular homicide, was added Monday after his sister died from her injuries at a Shreveport hospital, online records show.
According to an arrest report, witnesses told Monroe Police Department officers that Long pushed his sister down on the ground and took the keys to her 2012 Chevrolet Impala, KTVE reported.

Long then got into her vehicle and started the engine, the television station reported. According to the arrest report, Long’s other sister attempted to stop him from taking the vehicle as she stood near the driver’s side door.
According to the report, Long put the Impala into reverse and “accelerated at a high rate of speed.” The open door on the driver’s side knocked the woman to the ground, and the vehicle ran over her head, The Ouachita Citizen reported.
Long then crashed the car into a ditch across the street, the newspaper reported. At that point, Long exited the Impala and began striking his other sister, according to the arrest report.
Long was found inside a home where he resisted arrest, KTVE reported. Officers had to deploy their tasers to detain him, according to the television station.
Long was booked at Ouachita Correctional Center, the Citizen reported.
