Man arrested after bodies of baby and woman reported missing found in South Carolina

MARIETTA, S.C. — A man was arrested Thursday after two bodies were found in a Slater-Marietta home, according to the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office.

According to WYFF, the Sheriff’s Office discovered the body of a woman who had been reported missing and the body of a “recently-born” baby Wednesday evening.

Tyler Wilkins, 21, was detained and later charged with kidnapping and murder. According to arrest warrants obtained by WHNS, Wilkins allegedly assaulted the unidentified woman, leading to her death.

It’s unclear how the baby of the woman and Wilkins died, according to warrants obtained by WYFF. Wilkins was also charged with unlawful neglect after deputies said that he failed to help the baby after it was born.

The Greenville County Coroner’s Office has not released the victims’ names.
