WATERBURY, Conn. — A man stabbed a cashier Sunday at a Connecticut Walmart over the cost of milk, police said.
Waterbury police said Hichman Asfir, 40, stabbed a 19-year-old employee around 12:17 p.m. after she scanned the milk and told him the price of it, WVIT reported.
Investigators said when the worker told Asfir the price, he walked around the register, grabbed her hair and stabbed the side of her head with a folding knife. He then dropped the knife and sat down.
The employee was taken to a hospital for treatment to a puncture wound behind her left ear. She is in stable condition, WVIT reported.
Investigators took the folding knife as evidence and Asfir into custody. He was arrested and charged with assault and breach of peace, the Stamford Advocate reported.
“We are grateful our associate is out of the hospital and recovering,” the store said in a statement, WFSB reported. “Acts of violence are uncalled for and will not be tolerated in our stores. We’re glad law enforcement was able to arrest the suspect and we continue to wish our associate a speedy recovery.”
