PALM BEACH, Fla. — Police in Florida are looking for the thieves behind a high-end heist. The smash-and-grab in Palm Beach ended with approximately $1 million in handbags being taken.
A total of 13 one-of-a-kind Hermes handbags were taken from the Only Authentics boutique in Palm Beach, the Palm Beach Daily News reported. The store’s owner told the paper the handbags were stolen after the display window was broken during the night of Dec. 14.
The timing of the heist is surprising because it happened just hours before FBI agents were on the same street shutting down a nearby art gallery, WPTV reported. Palm Beach police insist there is no connection between the two cases.
The store, Only Authentics, bills itself online as “the world’s most trusted independent dealer of Hermes and Chanel handbags and accessories.”
Eight Birkin bags and five Kelly bags were stolen in the theft. The Palm Beach Daily News reported the most expensive Kelly bag stolen was worth $89,000 and the most expensive Birken bag stolen was listed for $110,000.
