CORTLAND COUNTY, N.Y. — A New York man died Friday after he was shot with a crossbow while hunting skunks, investigators said.
New York State Police said James R. Parker Jr. was shot by another man while the two were trying to kill a skunk outside of a home, WSYR reported.
Investigators said Parker, 58, was accidentally hit around 9 p.m. when the other man, who has not been identified, tried to shoot an arrow at the skunk, WRGB reported. The shooter called 911.
Medics were already rendering aid when officers arrived, WSYR reported.
