Huber, a native of Rochester, New York, joined All Elite Wrestling in March, WROC reported. He came to the organization after being released from his World Wrestling Entertainment contract, the television station reported, calling himself “The Exalted One.” Huber was known as Luke Harper during his time in the WWE and was closely associated with Wyatt Family members Bray Wyatt and Erick Rowan.

“The All Elite wrestling family is heartbroken,” All Elite Wrestling tweeted. “In an industry filled with good people, Jon Huber was exceptionally respected and beloved in every way -- a fierce and captivating talent, a thoughtful mentor and simply a very kind soul that starkly contradicted his persona as Mr. Brodie Lee.”

Details surrounding Huber’s death have not been revealed publicly. However, Huber’s wife, Amanda, posted a tribute to her husband on Instagram and said he died “after a hard-fought battle with a non-COVID related lung issue.”

Huber broke into the pro ranks by driving to wrestling events and waiting for a chance to appear if another wrestler was a no-show.

“That’s how I got my break,” Huber told WROC. “There’s a place in Pennsylvania called Chikara where a guy didn’t show up and I was the only guy there who was a wrestler.”

Huber’s ring persona was highlighted by long black hair, a scraggly beard and a wild-eyed look, WROC reported in 2018.

“I think it’s just in there,” Huber said of his characters. “I don’t know. If you ask my wife, she’ll tell you when I lose my keys, I look like the red light’s on. So, I think it’s just in there somewhere and just has to be drawn out.”
