Multiple media outlets reported that instead of going to her country estate 100 miles north of London, she will remain at Windsor Castle.
Sky News said the decision was a personal one on the part of the queen.
Family members are still planning to visit Windsor Castle with precautions to prevent the spread of COVID-19 taken.
CNN reported that the country is currently fighting a surge of COVID-19 infections due to the omicron variant with more than 80,000 new cases every day since Friday.
The queen has already changed her annual holiday celebrations due to the pandemic, canceling her pre-Christmas event last week where the extended royal family is invited to the castle. It is the second year that the gathering had been canceled due to the coronavirus.
She also has been limiting travel and work after doctors told her to rest and after she spent a night in the hospital in October. She has been doing light duties and holding virtual audiences, NBC News reported.
The queen will prerecord a Christmas Day speech which will be broadcast for the holiday, CNN reported.
This is the first holiday Queen Elizabeth II will be without her husband of 73 years, Prince Philip who died earlier this year at the age of 99.
