Sarah Thomas will become the first woman to officiate a Super Bowl.
Thomas, who became the first female referee in the NFL in 2015, will be part of the seven-person crew that calls the championship game Feb. 7 in Tampa, Florida.

“Sarah Thomas has made history again as the first female Super Bowl official,” Troy Vincent, who oversees football operations, said in a statement. “Her elite performance and commitment to excellence has earned her the right to officiate the Super Bowl.”
Carl Cheffers, a referee for 21 seasons, will lead the officials. He was also in charge of the 2017 Super Bowl.
Previously, Thomas was the first woman to officiate a NFL playoff game.
