BROADVIEW HEIGHTS, Ohio — A driver flipped out —literally — during a traffic stop in Ohio, performing a backflip for officers in an attempt to prove he was sober.
Tanner Watson, 27, was pulled over for speeding and allegedly admitted that he had been out drinking with friends before getting behind the wheel, WJW reported. The officer speaking with him suspected Watson was drunk.
Broadview Heights police said Watson had trouble completing the first sobriety test and then volunteered to do a backflip, WJW reported.
In a video obtained by WOIO from a police officer’s body camera, Watson is seen doing a backflip — and even nails a perfect landing. The officers praised Watson’s performance and are heard saying, “That’s good, man ... I can’t do that.”
Ultimately, the officers said that while Watson’s gymnastics performance was impressive, it did not constitute a sobriety test. Watson was arrested and charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated and speeding, WOIO reported.
