Daniela and Sofia Mendoza
Officials with the Wylie Independent School District said in an email to parents on Monday that two elementary school students, Daniela and Sofia Mendoza, were among those killed Saturday, WFAA reported.
The sisters were killed while their mother, Ilda, was in critical condition on Monday, the news station reported, citing district officials. Daniela was a fourth grade student while Sofia was a second grader.
The girls were “rays of sunshine,” Cox Elementary School principal Krista Wilson said in the message to parents, according to WFAA. On a verified GoFundMe campaign, their aunt said they have “left a void that nothing in the world could ever fill.”
“Please pray for their mom, my sister, and her broken heart,” Anabel Del Angel wrote on the campaign page. “Please also pray for their dad, that despite all the trauma he has had to endure, is still unbelievably strong. They will be forever missed and loved.”
Kyu, Cindy and James Cho
Friends identified Kyu, Cindy and James Cho as three of the people killed in Saturday’s shooting.
James Cho was 3 years old, friends said on a verified GoFundMe campaign launched to raise money for the family. James Cho, 6, survived the shooting.
The Cho family went to Allen Premium Outlets on Saturday to exchange clothes that William got for his birthday, which happened four days earlier.
“An afternoon that should have been filled with light, love and celebration unfortunately was cut short by another mass shooting massacre that left 8 victims dead,” according to the GoFundMe campaign. “Cindy, Kyu and three year old James were amongst those victims that tragically lost their lives and the family is in deep mourning.”
