OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. — A Florida woman is accused of killing her 3-year-old child and nearly killing her 8-year-old child on Mother’s Day.
Police said Joanne Zephir admitted to making both of her children drink bleach and choking the youngest to death.
Zephir and the two children were found unconscious in Osceola County after she had called a family member to tell them that she had killed the 3-year-old and that the 8-year-old was about to die, police said, according to WFTV.
The 3-year-old and the mother were found inside the vehicle. The 8-year-old was found near a road.
They were all transported to an area hospital where the 3-year-old died, WFTV reported.
The woman said she was under a voodoo spell that caused her to harm her children.
Zephir has been charged with attempted murder and child abuse. More charges may be filed once the toxicology report has been finalized, WFTV reported.
