Jacksonville, FL. — Special agents from the FBI’s Jacksonville Division announced the arrest of Joseph R. Biggs of Ormond Beach, FL for his role in the riot and assault on the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6.
Biggs, 37, describes himself as a member of the Proud Boys group.
Biggs posted a message on Parler leading up to the Jan. 6 events.
He stated, “We will not be attending DC in colors. We will be blending in as one of you. You won’t see us. You’ll even think we are you . . .We are going to smell like you, move like you, and look like you. The only thing we’ll do that’s us is think like us! Jan 6th is gonna be epic.”
Biggs was identified though video footage and still photographs from the events that took place at the Capitol.
Biggs is being charged with:
- corruptly did obstruct, influence, or impede an official proceeding before Congress,
- did knowingly enter or remain in a restricted building or grounds, i.e., the U.S. Capitol, without lawful authority, or did knowingly, and with intent to impede or disrupt the orderly conduct of government business or official functions, engage in disorderly or disruptive conduct;
- did willfully and knowingly engage in disorderly or disruptive conduct, at any place in the grounds or in any of the Capitol Buildings with the intent to impede, disrupt, or disturb the orderly conduct of a session of Congress or either House of Congress, or the orderly conduct in that building of any deliberations of either House of Congress.
