JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — From Cartersville to Jacksonville and Clemson in between, newlyweds Trevor and Marissa Lawrence have been through a lot together. Here’s a look at the relationship timeline of the new Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback and his wife.
Meet Marissa: 7 things you may not know about Trevor Lawrence’s wife
The two started dating toward the end of their sophomore year at Cartersville High School in Georgia. According to a Sports Illustrated cover story on Trevor, the two met as kids.
Marissa posted a photo of the two of them outside a movie theater, what appears to be their first Instagram photo together, on April 30, 2016.
In December 2016, Trevor committed to play college football for Clemson and Marissa was by his side to celebrate the decision.
Celebrating their 1-year anniversary, Marissa posted a series of photos and videos on May 23, 2017 with the caption, “Happy one year Trev I love you so much, always❤”
A year later, in May 2018, the two were side by side as they graduated from Cartersville High.
In the fall of 2018, Trevor took on quarterback duties at Clemson and led his team to a national championship winning-season.
That same season, Marissa took to the soccer field at Anderson University.
As the two grew as a couple, they also grew in their faith, attending services together at Passion City Church in Atlanta.
In July 2020, ahead of what would end up being his final season at Clemson, Trevor got down on knee on Frank Howard Field at Clemson Memorial Stadium and proposed to Marissa.
Trevor later told Sports Illustrated that he wasn’t concerned about what others thought about him getting married young.
“Some people have told him bluntly: ‘I don’t know why you’re getting married,’ but he says, ‘I’m not going to wait three years just to not look weird to other people. I don’t really care.’”
In November 2020, the couple celebrated Marissa’s 21st birthday and her last soccer game at Anderson University.
The following month, the pair graduated from their respective colleges.
The beginning of 2021 marked a big milestone, as Trevor announced he was declaring for the NFL Draft and Marissa was there to cheer him on. Excited Jaguars fans knew that it was all but certain that Trevor would be headed to “DUUUVAL.”
On April 10, 2021, the two got married in Bluffton, South Carolina.
Ahead of their wedding, Jaguars Twitter banded together to buy the couple a Revolution Cooking $300 “smart toaster” that was listed on their wedding registry. Fans raised more than $11,000. This led to more than $54,000 going to Northeast Florida charities after Trevor announced that he and Marissa would donate $20,000.
A little less than three weeks later, on April 29, 2021, the moment that Jaguars fans had been waiting for became official -- Trevor Lawrence was selected No. 1 overall in the NFL Draft by the Jacksonville Jaguars. Marissa was right by his side at a house in Seneca, South Carolina as he got the call from the team.
The following day, the couple flew down to Jacksonville to check out their new home.
