-maintain current start date of July 27 for fall sports

-create a date certain for schools to make that decision
The board voted to allow fall teams to start practice July 27 and set a date certain to let schools decide if teams plan to participate in playoffs. If teams opt-out, they can continue regular-season games into the state series. There are six fall sports sanctioned by the FHSAA including, football, golf, cross country, bowling, swimming and fiving, and girls volleyball.
The Sports Medicine Advisory Committee (SMAC) recommended the FHSAA delay the start of football and girls volley, which the board shot down.SMAC also suggested additional safety measures, including a symptom screen questionnaire and temperature checks, as well as a waiver for student-athletes to sign to acknowledge their risk.
The FHSAA scheduled another meeting for Friday to discuss the safety recommendations.
