JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Jacksonville Jaguars linebacker Telvin Smith announced Thursday that he will not be playing football during the 2019 season.

He posted his announcment on Instagram.
It reads in part: "At this time I must take time away from this game (and) get my world in order."

The Jaguars released the following statement on Smith's statement:
"We will not have a comment about Telvin Smith's statement at this time. We need to have a conversation with Telvin to understand the situation and circumstances.
"If there is a way we can support him we need to understand that."

Jacksonville Mayor Lenny Curry tweeted a message of support to Smith, saying in part, "take care of yourself:"
