JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office reported that a man died on University Boulevard after he was hit by a car near Jacksonville University Wednesday morning.
According to detectives, at around 5 a.m., a man was walking on the roadway when a Toyota Camry headed southbound on University Boulevard failed to see the pedestrian and hit him.
The pedestrian’s injuries proved fatal, and he was pronounced dead at the scene by Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department. The age of the victim is unknown at this time.
The driver of the Camry stopped and waited at the scene for the police response and is cooperating.
This marks the 28th traffic fatality in Duval County this year. JSO advises everyone to use the sidewalks when provided.
