JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Action News Jax’s First Alert Weather team is tracking a tornado watch that will be affecting portions of our area until 6 p.m. Wednesday.
The Tornado Watch now includes Charlton, Camden and Glynn counties in Southeast Georgia and Nassau, Duval, Baker, St. Johns, Clay, Bradford, Putnam and Union in Northeast Florida.
Here’s what we can expect, and what we have seen so far, according to First Alert Chief Meteorologist Mike Buresh:
- Rain and storms everywhere in our area at one point or another
- Many warnings but only a few reports of severe weather: Trees down in Dixie, Union and Ware counties; Sheds damaged in Pierce County; Marble to golf ball-sized hail in Camden County.
- Storms will just be getting to Jacksonville between 3:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. They will continue south of I-10 through 6 p.m.
- The tornado watch remains in effect until 6 p.m. for Jacksonville and Northeast Florida.
- Much-needed rain in many neighborhoods. It will be the most rain in one day since November.
- Cooler but not frigid temperatures to follow, with great football weather Saturday night for the Jaguars.
